Millennium Falcon drone: functional and one-of-a kind

Personal drones are fun toys (and useful tools), and we've seen them surface in increasingly fashionable forms. There's the Bionic Bird, for example, which looks like any other bird but comes with a few mechanical upgrades. That Back to the Future DeLorean drone is even better, mashing together nostalgia and skilled craftsmanship for a miniature time traveler. And now there's the Millennium Falcon drone, latest to the growing number of flying vehicle replicas taking to the sky. As always, we've a video of it in action after the jump.

The drone is the brainchild of Reddit user Olivier-FR, who posted his creation on the website yesterday alongside the video you see below and a link to a forum detailing the build (it's currently experiencing the Reddit hug of death, so if you're not seeing pics, try again later).

The Millennium Falcon replica was built upon a quadcopter, and includes all the little details alongside an ultra-bright light strip. A Li-Po 1800mAh battery powers it all, and a GoPro 3 is attached to film the miniature beast in action.

This isn't a hovering drone, as you can see in the video, with it being able to zip forward at speeds estimated to hit up to 30km/h (the drone itself can go faster, but is a bit sluggish with all the parts on it). All in all, it's a piece of art for the Star Wars fan among us, and another example of a surely growing hobby.
