Microsoft's Xbox Live gets new TV channels

Microsoft has announced that it is adding eight new TV channels to Xbox LIVE. The Xbox Dashboard recently got an overhaul with a new more Metro-styled interface along with the addition of new content and video services. The addition today is part of Microsoft's plan to challenge cable TV and includes localized TV channels for both the US and Europe.

The new Xbox Live TV channels include 4 on Demand (C4) and Demand 5 (Five) in the United Kingdom, M6 and MSN Video in France, UFC and VUDU in the United States, ABC iView in Australia, and Dailymotion available in 34 countries globally.

Xbox Live was just updated last week with its first wave of new content and video services from YouTube, Rogers on Deman, Verizon FiOS TV, iHeartRadio, TMZ, and MSNBC. Video service outside of North America include SBS on Demand in Australia, Blinkbox in the UK, RTVE in Spain, and MUZU TV in several European countries.
