Microsoft pulls iPhone-bashing video, says "it was off the mark"

Microsoft recently posted a video advertisement on YouTube, a lengthy piece that was a parody of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c handsets the Cupertino company recently unveiled. The video was both long and lacking in humor, and beyond that had a few head-scratching elements that all culminated in an advertisement that earned more criticism than anything else.

Not too long after it went live and began earning attention, Microsoft pulled the advertisement, though it lived on in copied varieties that others had downloaded and reposted, one of which you can see for yourself below. In the video, we see two "Apple employees" talking to two individuals whom it is assumed are supposed to be CEO Tim Cook and Jony Ive. In comes the head-scratching part, however.

The person the actors allude to being Tim Cook has the appearance of Steve Jobs, which took the advertisement from being strange to being offensive in some viewers' opinion, though who Microsoft intended these individuals to be isn't known.

The premise of the video is mockery of the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c, with Microsoft taking jabs at different elements of the new handsets, such as the plastic and the biometric aspects, with the image of a hairy-chested man making its way into the mix. Ultimately, Microsoft pulled the video, and sent a statement to the folks over at The Next Web.

"The video was intended to be a light-hearted poke at our friends from Cupertino. But it was off the mark, and we've decided to pull it down." What do you think? Did you find the advertisement amusing, or do you think it was best that Microsoft pulled it?
