Microsoft "living room" Zune advert tips big-screen intentions

Microsoft are looking to take Zune into the living room, at least if a job advert posted by the company is to be believed.  The Zune team is apparently looking for a software engineer to develop "innovative user experiences" for living room media, including on-demand music and video.

"Help shape the future of entertainment in the living room. The Zune team is looking for a qualified software development engineer to help deliver great digital entertainment features into the living room, including on demand music and video.

Primary responsibilities include development of innovative user interfaces for delivering a rich, deep interactive media consumption experience in a living room environment. Experience with online services API development is a must, product will provide a rich online media experience delivering music and video from the cloud. A passion for UX and digital media is a must." Microsoft job advert

The advert was posted on March 20th, and the position would be with the Zune team at Redmond.  Microsoft recently split the Zune group into two parts, one dealing with hardware and the other with software; the latter team is apparently developing Zune-branded software that will run not only on Microsoft's PMP but other devices.

A possible result could be a Zune media service on the Xbox 360.  Alternatively, Microsoft might develop a standalone set-top box (or work with third-party hardware manufacturers) similar to the Apple TV, offering the same access to digital music and video content as the Zune PMP has.
