Microsoft Courier tipped in innovation JobsBlog article

With all the HTC EVO 4G madness yesterday, we didn't get around to guffawing at Microsoft's JobsBlog apparently confirming that the Microsoft Courier digital journal is in fact an upcoming product.  Discussing examples of the company's innovation, the original version of the article – since amended – included the dual-touchscreen Courier among "online chatter surrounding" things like Windows Phone 7 and Internet Explorer 9.

"Do you already know everything about Project Natal and the Cloud? Is Blaise Aguera y Arcas' jaw-dropping TED talk on augmented-reality Bing Maps and Photosynth last month's news? Then check out some of the online chatter surrounding new releases of Window Phone 7 series handsets, Internet Explorer 9 and the upcoming Courier digital journal." Original JobsBlog text

Microsof have consistently denied any plans for Courier, with Steve Ballmer going so far as to say he'd never seen the tablet.  According to previous leaks, the Courier consists of two book-bound active touchscreen displays, with a heavy emphasis on notetaking and researching.  The device has a browser and mediaplayer, and can be used to clip snippets of text, image and video and annotate them, linking local content to an online blog.

Unsurprisingly, Microsoft are still declining to comment on the JobsBlog text, and it's unclear how much of this was prompted by true insider-knowledge accidentally revealed, or how much was an over-eager blogger sticking his foot into it.  The JobsBlog itself is run by Microsoft recruiters, who are perhaps unlikely to be the first people to see an upcoming secret project like Courier.
