Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes gets higher native resolution on PS4 than Xbox One

One of the most popular and longest running game franchises that Konami has is the Metal Gear Solid franchise. These games have been coming to game consoles for years and another title in the franchise in the works. Konami has confirmed some interesting details of the next game in the franchise, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

Konami has confirmed that the game will run at a native resolution of 1080p on the PS4. However, the native resolution for the game on the Xbox One will be 720p. Despite the differences in native resolution, the game will run at 60 frames per second on both consoles.

On last generation consoles, the game will also run at 720p with internal scaling. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game run at 30 fps rather than 60 offered on the Xbox One and PS4. Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima had previously praised the graphics prowess of the PS4 stating that it could render 1080p at 60 fps "with room to spare."

That statement would seem to indicate that the Xbox One simply isn't able to render graphics at 1080p with the 60 fps frame rate. Kojima also said that of the two consoles, he thinks the PS4 is the better hardware. Metal Gear Solid V will launch on March 18 in North America and on March 20 in Europe.
