McAfee Mobile Security solution for Android announced at MWC 2014

McAfee announced a new security solution at MWC 2014 that will protect Android users from threats online. McAfee is an Intel company and the new software delivers on the promise Intel made in the past for free mobile security software for consumers. The software is available for download on Google Play right now.

The app is called McAfee Mobile Security and it is offered free in 30 languages. The goal of Intel and McAfee with the free software is to make security a tightly integrated part of the consumer experience. The free version of the security app for Android devices offers security extensions for Intel-based mobile devices.

A similar app is also available for iOS users. The software promises comprehensive protection against both security and privacy threats. The software is designed to prevent privacy invasion, data loss identity theft, and device theft. It has components for anti-virus, app protection, anti-theft, call, and SMS filtering.

McAfee says that its Mobile Security app received a 100% detection score in a test with 30 other firms run by AV-Test. The software also as a CaptureCam feature that will snap a picture of the person holding the device if multiple attempts to enter the password incorrectly are made.
