Marvel's Jessica Jones renewed for Season 2 by Netflix

Netflix has renewed Marvel's Jessica Jones, one of its original Marvel shows, for a second season. The second season order is for 13 episodes, and will bring Krysten Ritter back as Jessica Jones, a super-strong private investigator who made her streaming debut back in November. This year will also bring a separate Luke Cage series, which will also debut on Netflix.

Jessica Jones premiered as a Netflix original series in November, following the company's solid success with the previously released Daredevil series. Both shows went on to earn high marks and ample fans, spurring Marvel and Netflix to proceed with second seasons. Jessica Jones is one of four original Marvel shows Netflix has in the pipeline.

The show stars Mike Colter as character Luke Cage, and he'll be the star of his own original Netflix show later this year. The show will be available in all areas where Netflix is available, and though we don't have too many details about it at this point, we do know Cheo Hodari Coker has been tapped to write the first two episodes and to serve as executive producer.

Presumably the next season of Jessica Jones will be dropping in November of this year, though that hasn't been explicitly stated. The storyline for next season has not been revealed. The first season is available to watch on Netflix now.
