Life With iPhone - Day 1 Review

I got an iPhone at exactly 6:15 PM Central time and started charging it at 7:10PM. I'm currently an AT&T customer, so porting my current AT&T number to the iPhone is a quick and easy process. After activation, iTunes started to sync my emails (including email account settings), my address book, iTunes music playlist, photos and videos.

Within an hour of charging I got the first incoming call on my iPhone. I pulled the phone out of the docking charger; the top part of the handset is quite warm and putting it on my ear feels very uncomfortable.

Apparently many others are in the same boat as I am from the comments posted on this MY iTablet entry. I found out that the iPhone also gets hot after playing a couple of YouTube videos. As expected, the YouTube application doesn't display every video on their site yet (for instance I tried searching for SlashGear videos but they're not converted as of yet). Using an EDGE connection the video streaming was amazingly good; I did not experience any lagging during video playback. Apple really did put some work into this application.

Writing my first text message was fun, the SMS application is designed to display as a conversation like you'd find in an instant messenger. The virtual keyboard is intuitive and very accurate in recognizing what I'm pressing. I can actually type as fast on it as on my Treo 750v. The word correction feature is one of my favorite functions on the iPhone, as I'm typing it suggests the word I'm trying for.

So far, I'm enjoying using it. Check back for more Life with iPhone.
