LG Prada II touchscreen 3G cellphone with slide-out QWERTY

LG have officially announced the Prada II cellphone, an update to the original touchscreen Prada handset with the inclusion of a sliding QWERTY keyboard.  Packing 7.2Mbps HSDPA (850/2100MHz), WiFi and a 5-megapixel camera, the Prada II runs LG's own OS rather than Windows Mobile or Android.

The LG Prada II also has an FM radio and TV output, together with a full HTML browser.  It uses a capacitive touchscreen, similar to that of the iPhone, but without multitouch functionality.

Set to go on sale in Italy, UK, France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands in Q4 2008, the LG Prada II will be priced at around €600 ($817).  That's undoubtedly a lot for a non-smartphone (though carrier subsidies should bring it down significantly), but given the degree of interest in the first Prada handset – which continues even now - it's likely to find plenty of fashion-conscious buyers.
