LG outs 21:9 UltraWide 4K curved displays

LG already showed us its 4K Ultra HD TV range for CES 2015, and now it's the turn of some eye-catching monitors to get a shot at the limelight. The trio of unusual, 21:9 UltraWide displays are targeting gamers, graphics designers, and even financial traders, with a variety of curved form-factors and stacked stands; they're also joined by a fourth screen, promising greater-than-Ultra-HD resolution that, while a little short on an iMac with Retina Display, still edges ahead of most 4K panels out there.

The UltraWide line-up kicks off with the LG 34UM67, with AMD FreeSync for tear-free gaming, and a broader field-of-view with improved contrast for the sort of murky screen spaces where enemies might be lurking.

Then, there's the LG 34UC97, LG's first 34-inch 21:9 curved monitor, running at Quad HD 3440 x 1440 resolution. As well as gaming, LG suggests, there are applications for graphic designers and photographers; they'll probably make the most use of the Thunderbolt 2 connectivity, as found on Macs like the Mac Pro for instance.

The IPS panel has 178-degree viewing angles and covers 99-percent of the sRGB color space.

Last of the UltraWides is the 34UC87M, a curved 21:9 screen that can be stacked in multiple configurations to make expansive walls of displays.

Finally, there's the LG Digital Cinema 4K Monitor 31MU97, running at 4096 x 2160 resolution. It offers over 99.5-percent Adobe Color Space, and is targeted at video editors.

Pricing for the four displays is yet to be confirmed, but LG will be spilling more detials – and showing them off in public for the first time – at CES next week.
