LG G6 and Q6 are in for new V30 treats

It's been a little while since we last heard from the LG G6, but the fact that it's almost a year old isn't stopping its maker from rolling out new models. Today LG announced that the G6 will soon be getting a few new color options, along with its budget-minded counterpart, the LG Q6. These colors will be based on some of the ones that are already available for the V30, LG's latest flagship device.

LG announced today that the G6 will soon be available in Moroccan Blue, Lavender Violet, and Raspberry Rose. Meanwhile, the Q6 will be getting the Moroccan Blue and Lavender Violet options, with Raspberry Rose notably missing from the list. Perhaps LG wanted to give the G6 a little something extra given its status as a flagship phone?

In any case, these new colors are joining the rather wide palette of both phones, which are each available in five different colors in different regions around the world. It would seem that LG is really trying to break this habit of giving flagship phones only a few different color options, as color scheme may now become the hardest decision you make when it comes to deciding on an LG phone.

This just might be the last hurrah for the LG G6, as the arrival of spring should see the reveal of the LG G7. Recently, LG has cast doubt on the idea of it continuing a traditional annual release schedule, which means that a G7 reveal may not come precisely when we're expecting it. Still, with the Galaxy S9 set to be revealed at the end of next month, we may ultimately see the G7 sooner rather than later, as the G6's internals might begin to feel a little more outdated as new competitors launch.

In any case, LG says that these new colors will be arriving in Korea first. They'll launch there at an unspecified time next month, followed by launches in "key markets worldwide." It seems safe to assume that the US is one of those key markets, but LG says it will announce information that's a little more local soon. Stay tuned.
