LG denies ditching Windows Phone

LG is denying reports that it will be ditching Windows Phone 7 and focusing on Android. Rumors spread yesterday after the Korea Herald quoted an LG spokesperson saying that the company has no plans to introduce a new Windows Phone and speculated that an upcoming visit to South Korea by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer was to save the relationship.

According to Pocket-lint, which has spoken to an LG spokesperson, the reports are all false. "None of it is true. Korea Herald is showing its speculative side again," said the spokesperson. "We are still on board with Windows Phone, but right now, we're focusing on Android because that's where the demand is."

LG hasn't had much success with its Windows Phone 7 devices, but it isn't planning to ditch the platform. It plans to focus on Android but will continue to research and develop Windows Phone devices. "Regardless of which OS, LG is committed to offering consumers as wide a choice as possible," said the LG spokesperson.
