LG Android 4.4 KitKat software update hits G2 in Q1

The hip thing for hardware brands to announce this week appears to be their schedule for updating their smartphones to Android 4.4 KitKat, and LG is aboard right alongside the rest with its G2 for Q1 2014. The LG G2 is the current hero smartphone for the company, with the curved LG G Flex coming in only slightly more recently. The LG G2 has ben pegged for the month of March inside 2014 for a full upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat, to be precise.

Word of this KitKat update comes from an LG representative speaking with Mobile Syrup. Updates to software in Canadian-aimed smartphones come – in general – at the same time as the USA-bound versions, so we can expect an update to the AT&T version of the LG G2 to come right around March as well.

Currently the LG G2 works with an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software build today, using LG's own build for uniqueness in presentation. We've had a shot at bringing you a full LG G2 review earlier this year with definite thumbs-up for the many unique bits and pieces presented with the device. We also presented a full LG G2 camera hands-on for greater understanding of the power of this machine's back-facing shooter.

Have a peek at the Android 4.4 KitKat SlashGear 101 guide for a close look at all the elements presented in the operating system upgrade through 2014. While the LG G2 will get some of these features, it's highly unlikely that LG will opt to include the whole lot. The machine that has appeared to bring the closest thing to a full gamut is the LG-made Google Nexus 5, a device that used the LG G2 as its original inspiration.
