Lexar unveils enterprise-class JumpDrive Safe S3000 FIPS validated USB drive

Keeping the data we put on flash drives and other external storage solutions safe is a concern for many of us. In the world of government and business keeping data safe is an even bigger concern. Lost government flash drives packed with personal data on citizens have been in the news before and presents a big issues for Americans. Lexar has announced a new flash drive that is called the JumpDrive Safe S3000 FIPS to protect sensitive data for enterprise and government workers.

The drive is FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated and has hardware-based data encryption. The secure flash drives were co-developed with Gemalto and are the first to protect data with smart-card based security with continuous AES 256-bit encryption. The device is also ruggedized to protect data even further.

The housing is made from a composite metal that is waterproof and meets military 810-F waterproof standards. The drive is available in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB capacities and a version minus the FIPS certification can be had in up to 16GB capacity. Prices for the FIPS certified drives range from $99.99 to $269.99.
