Lenovo ThinkPad X390 ultraportable laptop targets on-the-go professionals
Lenovo is back with its smallest ThinkPad ever, the ThinkPad X390. This model brings the stylish business-chic design for which the ThinkPad is famous and has paired it with an incredibly slim, lightweight chassis. The company boasts a 13-inch display packed into a 12-inch footprint, as well as bezels reduced by 50-percent, new privacy features, and more.
The ThinkPad product line is well-known in the business world and for good reason. The laptops are designed for professionals, offering high-quality components alongside durable construction and features that meet various needs. With the ThinkPad X390, Lenovo targets professionals who frequently travel and need a laptop that won't weigh them down.
The X390 adds PrivacyAlert and PrivacyGuard to the series, addressing the growing privacy concerns among the public. As well, the X390 has received a new hybrid high-definition and infrared camera with an included ThinkShutter, which enables the user to cover the webcam when it's not in use.
Buyers can choose up to the 8th-generation Intel Core vPro i7 processor and Intel HD Graphics 620, as well as 32GB of DDR4 RAM and up to a 1TB SSD. Lenovo is offering the X390 with two different display options: a 13.3-inch Full HD panel with 300 nit brightness and touch support, as well as a 400 nit panel with PrivacyGuard, but lacking touch support.
The company has elected to include both USB-C and USB-A 3.1 ports, plus a Thunderbolt 3 port, microSD card slot, combo audio jack, and side mechanical docking port. Conferencing and audio quality also get a strong focus with the inclusion of dual-array far field microphones and Dolby Audio Premium.
The new model offers a number of security features, including support for Windows Hello, a Kensington Lock Slot, dTPM 2.0, and a fingerprint sensor. Complementing the entire package is the promise of more than 17 hours of battery life per charge.
The ThinkPad X390 will be available in June starting at $1,099 USD.
