Lenovo ThinkPad T590 is an ultra-portable 15.6" mobile workstation

For Lenovo customers eyeing the new T490 model, but who need a larger screen and dedicated numpad, the company has unveiled its new ThinkPad T590. This model packs a larger 15.6-inch display into an otherwise slim, fairly light laptop, keeping the overall weight below 4lbs while offering more screen real estate for getting work done. Joining the new screen is a hybrid webcam and new GPU hardware.

The ThinkPad T590 sports the same aesthetic as the smaller T490 model, but brings with it a new 4K Dolby Vision HDR 500 nit display option. The larger 15.6-inch screen size provides more space for arranging projects, but Lenovo has worked on maintaining the device's portability with the weight topping out at 3.8lbs.

The T590 offers up to an 8th-generation Intel Core vPro i7 processor; buyers can choose either Intel HD Graphics 620 or the NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU. Likewise, buyers can configure the laptop to have up to 48GB of RAM and up to a 1TB SSD. Despite its powerful hardware, Lenovo says users can expect up to 15 hours of run time per charge.

Other features include Thunderbolt 3 and a USB-C 3.1 port, two USB-A ports, HDMI, microSD, a combo audio jack, and a side mechanical docking port. Multiple security features are present, including dTPM 2.0, support for Windows Hello, a fingerprint sensor, Kensington Lock Slot, and a ThinkShutter for hiding the webcam.

Lenovo includes rapid charging tech for quickly recharging the laptop, as well as dual-array far field microphones and Dolby Audio Premium for superior conferencing without a headset. Overall, Lenovo says its new T590 model is 11-percent lighter than the previous version.

The ThinkPad T590 will be available from Lenovo in June with a starting price of $1,029 USD.
