Lenovo ThinkCentre M90a AiO and Creator Extreme display lead CES 2020 desktops
Lenovo is making a big play for your desktop, with a new ThinkCentre M90a All-in-One and a bevy of displays for CES 2020, including the promising new ThinkVision Creator Extreme. The new Windows 10 all-in-one offers a host of privacy features to go along with its discrete GPU, while the new ThinkVision monitors include features like docking stations and curved LCD panels.
Lenovo ThinkCentre M90a All-in-One
Lenovo's ThinkCentre M90a All-in-One may be easy on the eyes, but the new Windows desktop PC is also watching you the user, too. The 23.8-inch Full HD computer can automatically blur its screen when the M90a spots you turning away, to reduce the likelihood of digital eavesdropping . Meanwhile, the IR camera with ThinkShutter supports both Windows Hello security and being physically blocked when you're feeling paranoid.
Inside there's up to 10th Gen Intel Core U i7 vPro processors and up to AMD Radeon 625 graphics with 2GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory. System memory is up to 32GB, while storage can be up to 2TB of HDD, up to 1TB of M.2 SSD – in OPAL or non-OPAL form – and up to 16GB of M.2 Intel Optane. Lenovo even finds room for an optional DVD drive.
Ports include two USB 3.1 Gen 2, a USB-C 3.1 Gen 1, four USB 3.1, a DisplayPort output, audio combo jack, and a 3-in-1 card reader. If you want, you can have a serial port, too; Lenovo sees the ThinkCentre M90a as being potentially popular with point-of-sale systems. Connectivity includes WiFi 802.11ax, and there's a fingerprint reader, Dolby Atmos, and even MIL-SPEC resilience to things like temperature, dust, and humidity.
The ThinkCentre M90a All-in-One will go on sale from June 2020, and will be priced from $1,099.
Lenovo ThinkVision Creator Extreme
Plug in a single USB-C cable and you unlock the ThinkVision Creator Extreme's charms, a 27-inch 16L9 4K 3840 x 2160 display with an IPS panel and 1,000 nits of brightness. There's 99-percent DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, 100-percent sRGB, and 100-percent BT.709, along with HDR support.
Lenovo uses a Mini LED backlight with 1,152 separate zones, and there's a 60Hz refresh rate. The company is targeting the display at creative pros, such as video and graphics editors. If you have the desk space, the narrow bezels should allow you to push two or more screens together with minimal interruptions.
That USB-C cable provides up to 90W of power as well as data, and the monitor has two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, audio output, and four USB 3.1 Gen 1. The ThinkVision Creator Extreme will go on sale from April 2020, and will be priced from $2,499.
Lenovo ThinkVision T34w-20
If width is your primary concern, the ThinkVision T34w-20 may fit the bill. 34-inches of WQHD 3440 x 1440 panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio and skinny bezels up top and on the sides, it uses a curved VA panel with 350 nits of brightness and a 60Hz refresh rate. Ports include USB-C Gen1 with DisplayPort 1.2 Alt Mode, an HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2, audio out, and four USB 3.1 Gen 1, all linked to your laptop with a single USB-C cable,
In turn, that can supply up to 75W to recharge your laptop. There's 99-percent sRGB color gamut coverage and a lift/tilt/swivel stand. The ThinkVision T34w-20 will go on sale from March 2020, and will be priced from $799.
Lenovo ThinkVision P27h-20
The ThinkVision P27h-20 slots into the midrange, with a 27-inch 16:9 aspect IPS WLED display running at QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution. It supports 85-percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 99-percent of the BT-709, and runs at up to 350 nits of brightness.
There's a swivel, tilt, pivot, and increased lift stand, that can rise up to 135mm. Perhaps more excitingly, the ThinkVision P27h-20 can act as a docking station, with a single USB-C cable from your laptop paving the way for ethernet, HDMI, and DisplayPort connections, as well as USB and audio-out.
The ThinkVision P27h-20 will go on sale from March 2020, and will be priced from $499.
ThinkVision T24v-20
Lenovo's most affordable new display of CES 2020 doesn't sacrifice key Windows features in order to hit its price tag. The ThinkVision T24v-20 measures in at 23.8-inches, with an IPS LCD screen that supports 250 nits of brightness and a 60Hz refresh rate. It supports 72-percent of the NTSC color gamut, and runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution.
It comes with a stand that supports lift, tilt, swivel, and pivot, and has twin 3W speakers. Ports include VGA, HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, a USB-B 3.0 upstream, and four USB-A 3.0 downstream. Lenovo also bakes in a webcam and an IR camera for use with Windows Hello, and there's a ThinkShutter cover too. The ThinkVision T24v-20 will go on sale from April 2020, and will be priced from $264.
