Lenovo Horizon 2 update brings NFC, slimmer form factor

Lenovo has rolled out a model update with the Horizon 2 here at CES, something that trumps its older sibling in several ways, not the least of which is a lighter weight and a profle that is "dramatically thinner". The thickness comes in at 19.5mm, which is about the depth of a deck of playing cards, something that helped reduce the machine's weight by about a solid pound. Beyond that are some boosts in connectivity and the Aura interface.Breaking the system down into its basic specifications, the Horizon 2 offers a 27-inch display with 10-finger multi-touch support. Storages gives buyers a bit of options, with both hybrid and HDD offerings being available, the maximum capcity of which has not been specified. Audio, like some of the other offerings this month, is Dolby Home Theatre version 4, which works with the integrated speakers to produce notably good audio quality.Under the hood, buyers can choose up to an Intel Core i7 Haswell processor, but neither the memory nor the graphics options were presented. The Horizon 2 is a convertible system that can be toggled between stand and table mode, the first of which turns the display 180-degrees and the latter that lays it flat for use by multiple people in a board game-like mode. The Aura interface is included that allows users to access data on smartphones and other PCs. This can be accomplished using Lenovo's latest Aura app, which allows an Android device to be shaken for transmission — basically, the content "falls" onto the Horizon's display. Overall, this table PC is a solid offering, and will be available in June starting at $1,499 USD.
