We've only just been eyeing up its microphone, but now comes word that the new Kindle 3 is temporarily sold out.  Both the regular Kindle 3G + WiFi and the WiFi-only version aren't now expected to ship until September 4th, after Amazon has been overwhelmed with strong demand.Announced last week, the third-generation Kindles mark a lower price point for the Amazon ereader together with boosting connectivity options and other functionality.  The entry-level model is WiFi-only and priced at $139, while the $189 version gets its predecessors inclusive 3G access (along with WiFi too).

Sales of the two versions continue, with shipments being prioritized on a first-come, first-serve basis.  More details at amazon.com/kindle
