Kia Stinger global availability set for Q4 2017

One of the most exciting cars that Kia has unveiled in recent memory is the Stinger with its sports sedan styling and powerful motors. Kia has announced that the Stinger will be available globally in Q4 2017. That means anytime in the next several months we could see the car roll into showrooms. Kia has given no firm launch date at this time.

The Kia Stinger can trace its lineage directly back to the 2011 Kia GT Concept and is to be the highest performance vehicles in the Kia line. Stinger will be offered with three different engines depending on the market where it's sold. The most powerful is a 3.3L twin-turbo V6 engine with an available 2.0L turbo gas engine. European and Korean markets also have a 2.2L turbodiesel.

The Stinger is designed to look sporty and muscular with a long hood and short 830 mm front overhang and a long rear overhang of 1,095 mm. The car is 4,380 mm long and 1,860 mm wide making it longer and wider than many other sport sedans to give it a more spacious cabin and more cargo area.

Kia says that the Stinger has a 406L cargo capacity allowing it to hold two full-size suitcases or golf bags. The car has front air curtains, wheel arch grills, a smooth underbody, and integrated rear diffuser. GT models will get dark chrome highlights on the grille, side fender vents, and door mirror caps along with a gloss black diffuser, and LED headlights.

Brembo brakes also come on the GT version and 19-inch wheels. 2.0 TDI versions get dual twin exhaust. At the lowest seating position the driver is only 180mm above the ground for a performance driving position. There will be nine colors available. The 2.0L engine makes 255ps with the 3.3L twin-turbo V6 version making 370 ps and 510 nm of toque. Cars with that engine can reach 100 kph in 4.9 seconds and aiming for a top speed of 270 kph. Kia says pricing will be announced closer to launch. The production Stinger was unveiled back in January.
