Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is the fastest saloon car in all the land

Jaguar has an awesome 4-door car that is insanely fast on the Nürburgring. Since the Jag hails from England, you can't call it a 4-door, it's a saloon. The Jag XE SV Project 8 packs 600PS and has spent time dominating the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a record-setting lap.

The car turned in a time of 7 minutes and 21.23 seconds making it the fastest production-intent four-door car around the track in history. The Project 8 can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 200 mph.

Jaguar will build 300 of the cars and will sell them globally. Pricing in the UK is £149,995, or a bit over $200,000. The driver behind the wheel for the record-setting lap was Vincent Radermeckr and he lapped the Project 8 a full 11 seconds quicker around the track than the previous record holder.

Production Project 8 cars can be ordered as a four-seat sedan or with an optional weight-savings two-seat Track Pack. That two-seater version has carbon fiber racing seats and four-point harnesses. Both versions of the car have adjustable suspension, aerodynamic and electronics systems that have track mode.

The record-setting car was in Track mode and ran on production 265/35 R20 and 305/30 R2 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Jag says the time is fast enough to put its saloon ahead of some of the most powerful 2-door coupes and mid-engine supercars in the world. Jag has also announced that the XR SV Project 8 car that set the record is on display at the LA Auto Show.
