iPhone 6 rumored (again) for September 19 release date

When will you be able to get your hands on a new iPhone? The larger model(s) may hit as soon as September. Another source is adding credence to a previous report that September 19th will be the go-live date for the highly anticipated handset.

German carrier (and T-Mobile parent company) Deutsche Telekom was previously found to be telling staff to tout the 19th as the big day. Chinese media site Tencent is now reporting the same, noting "inside sources". They didn't say where their sources were from, or how they'd have insight into Apple's release timeframe.

September 19th would fit with iPhone tradition, though. Apple typically releases their devices in the Fall, and September 19 is a Friday — prime time for a new device. In addition to the release timeframe, we learn Apple may be charging a premium price for this new device. A 32GB variant would run right around $850, and a 64GB model would set you back a staggering $1,000.

This report also doesn't suggest Apple will release their (potentially) two new iPhones in a staggered release scheme. We've previously heard a 5.5-inch model would see the light of day shortly after release of a 4.7-inch model. Then again, the report doesn't have pricing for both models, and it's believed Apple will charge a bit more for the largest iPhone.

In addition to a larger display, the iPhone 6 is expected to usher in iOS 8, which we saw at WWDC. We've seen various leaks here and there about new features in the OS, and we know how Apple will handle the screen size difference on larger phone. There has been no official word on when iOS 8 or an iPhone 6 would be announced, but when Apple starts sending out a "we've got something big to talk about" invitations to an event, that's a strong indication as to when the release is.
