iPhone 6 release in August say suppliers

There's word from Taiwan this week that Apple's iPhone 6 release will take place in August. This would be a month earlier than the past couple of years of iPhone releases – the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5 appeared inside of September.

Word from Taiwanese media suggests that there will be two releases of iPhone 6 models this year, the first in August, the second in September. The first model would be a 4.7-inch iPhone 6, this ramping up from the iPhone 5s with its 4-inch display.

The second iPhone 6 would have either a 5.5-inch or 5.6-inch display, while it's likely Apple would reveal both iPhone models at the same time. Because of this – and because the schedule for the iPhone would be changed completely – we must assume that the whole lot would be revealed inside of August along with the smaller model's release.

If Apple did plan on releasing two new models in the iPhone 6 line, it would make far more sense for them to appear earlier in the year (in August) rather than later.

With each release of a new iPhone size, Apple must consider their in-store lineup. As the iPhone 5s would be the lowest tier on this three-tiered launch, Apple must make apparent that they're taking the iPhone out a whole new door.

Releasing an iPhone 6 with 4.7-inch display one month earlier than the larger edition gives Apple time to prepare a changing of the guard, so to speak. Members of the public will be doing one of two things during this period of time:

1. Preparing to purchase a new iPhone of a larger size, the smaller of these two in-store to give them an idea of what it'll be like to size up.

2. Indulging in the fire-sale that will be the culling of the iPhone 5c.

While it's possible Apple is releasing two models at different times due to supply constraints, we're more apt to believe it has to do with sales tactics. Holding a line at the door, as it were.
