iPhone 5s will go up for pre-order in China next week

Though the iPhone 5c has been put up for pre-order, Apple has elected to hold out on the iPhone 5s, launching it at its stores in a single day on September 20. This won't be the case for China, however, with buyers there being able to pre-order the iPhone 5s online starting September 17, with it being available for pickup likewise on September 20.

Apple has noted as much on its website, saying that both the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c will be available in China and related areas in Asia as a pre-order on September 17, with pickup a couple days later. Such is not atypical for Apple in regards to how it launches products in China, and will perhaps help avoid some of the crowd issues that have arisen in the past.

For the rest of us, iPhone 5s online purchases will be available on September 20th at the turn of midnight, as well as in stores for those willing to battle the crowds starting at 8AM local time across the nation. The iPhone 5c, the colorful polycarbonate model, will also be available for general purchase, obviously.

The iPhone 5c is being offered at $99 on contract for the 16GB variety, and $199 on contract for the 32GB variety. Those who want an unlocked sans-contract model for T-Mobile can be had for $549 and $649, respectively. AT&T is also offering the handset for $22 monthly for 20 months through its Next program, while Verizon Edge is offering it at a slightly higher $23.06, and T-Mobile for $22 monthly for 24 months.

The iPhone 5s, meanwhile, will start at $199 for the 16GB version, according to Apple, with the 32GB going for $299 and the 64GB version for $399, all of which are with contracts. Without contracts from T-Mobile, the prices go up to $649, $749, and $849, respectively.
