iPhone 5S availability improves as Foxconn increases production

With the launch of each new version of the iPhone, there are typically production issues that prevent the phone from being able to meet demand early on. Supply catches up with demand eventually, but many people that wish to own the latest version of the iPhone have a hard time finding it in the weeks and months after launch. This is the case with the iPhone 5S with some people who want to purchase having a hard time getting their hands on the smartphone.

A report has surfaced that indicates Foxconn is set to ramp up production of the iPhone 5S in an attempt to help Apple meet the demand for the high-end smartphone. Early on there was a 2-week wait to get the iPhone 5S from the online Apple Store in the US and China due to a limited supply of the device. The smartphone is now shipping in 3-5 business days according to the report.

The report claims that Foxconn is operating its factories around the clock and hired more staff. The same report also claims that orders for the less popular iPhone 5C are being reduced to help meet the demand for the iPhone 5S. Foxconn is said to be operating 100 production lines 24 hours a day, seven days per week in Zhengzhou.

This particular factory has 300,000 workers and assembles the iPhone 5S along with components such as metal casings for the smartphone. The factory reportedly produces 500,000 iPhone 5S units each day. Check out our review of the iPhone 5S for more details on the smartphone.
