iPhone 5S 128GB storage option rumored

Rumors are abundant about the iPhone 5S and they just keep coming. In fact, AppleInsider got the scoop from Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI analyst, on several rumors, including the prediction that the next-gen iPhone will feature a 128GB option along with the gold casing we previously reported on.

While many of the features of the iPhone 5S will remain the same, there are a few new aspects that are notable. Kuo predicts a processor bump up to the A7 system-on-chip design with 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Efficiency is estimated to increase by 20 percent with this update.

He also expects a 128GB on-board flash memory option, which keeps in line with memory boost to the fourth-gen iPad Apple made earlier this year. This analysis falls in line with other rumors we've already heard about, including the addition of a fingerprint sensor, a f2.0 aperture lens for the rear-facing camera, and new "champagne" or gold casing options.

Finally, Kuo doesn't anticipate near-field communication or NFC being added to the iPhone 5S this time around. An announcement date of September 10 is anticipated, at which time a more affordable handset, the iPhone 5C, is also expected to be revealed.
