iPhone 4 wins Best Mobile Device award at MWC 2011 without being at the show

Apple is infamously against attending any of the big trade shows that come around each year. The company doens't do CES nor does it attend MWC. That lack of attendance doesn't mean the geeks that are at the shows aren't thinking about the wares offered by Cupertino.

Apple has landed itself the Best Mobile Device award at MWC 2011, despite the fact that Apple didn't attend the trade show in Barcelona. The device makers that were actually at the show can't feel too good about losing to a company that doesn't even show up.

Apparently the judges said of the iPhone 4, "[it has a] great screen, sharp design, fantastic materials, and phenomenal ecosystem for app developers. In a tight race, the iPhone 4 built on the success of its predecessors to set the pace for smartphones." The Device Manufacturer of the year award went to HTC with the HTC Desire noted by the judges as highly commended.
