iOS 13.1.1 arrives with fixes for Siri, battery drain, and backups

Apple is back with another iOS 13 update, this time bringing iOS 13.1.1 with some key bug fixes for its mobile device owners. Among other things, users who update will get a bug fix for an issue that is causing device batteries to drain faster than usual, as well as another fix for a problem that prevents iPhones from being restored from backups.READ: iPhone 11 hands-on

Apple released iOS 13.1 on Tuesday, September 24, bringing the Share ETA feature to Apple Maps, a new AirDrop interface, and more. A mere three days later, Apple is back with another update, this one focused entirely on fixes for issues both big and small. The changelog reads:

iOS 13.1.1 includes bug fixes and improvements for your iPhone. This update:

- Fixes issues that could prevent iPhone restoring from backup

- Addresses an issue that could cause battery to drain more quickly

- Fixes an issue that could impact recognition of Siri requests on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max

- Resolves a problem where Safari search suggestions may re-enable after turning them off

- Addresses an issue that could cause Reminders to sync slowly

- Fixes a security issue for third-party keyboard apps

The biggest aspects of the update are the fixes for iPhone restoring, battery drain, Siri recognition, and the fix for a security issue impacting third-party keyboard applications. The latter fix follows a disclosure earlier this week from Apple, which warned that third-party keyboards installed on iOS 13 and its iPadOS counterpart may be able to get gain full access without user permission.

Apple has similarly released iPadOS 13.1.1 for the iPad. Users can update the iPhone and iPad devices by opening the Settings app, tapping 'General,' and then 'Software update.'
