iOS 12 beta 7 temporarily pulled after performance complaints

Early feedback from users has apparently prompted Apple to temporarily pull the iOS 12 beta 7 update. Users reported slow performance, including a delay in unlocking the device and when launching apps, among other things. Based on user reports, the performance issues eventually smoothed out, but Apple has removed the update regardless to fix the problems.

Though the OTA update is no longer available, developers who had registered with Apple still had access to the update's restore image in the Developer Center. That didn't remain available for long, though, with developers reporting that Apple has since also removed that update option.

Based on reports from users who had updated to the latest beta, other issues may have included freezing on the Lock Screen and in the Notification Center, as well as some app functions failing to load properly. Users had started warning other iPhone owners to skip the update shortly before Apple pulled it.

It's unclear when Apple will relaunch the iOS 12 beta 7 update. Notably, this version removed Group FaceTime, which enables up to 32 people to participate in a FaceTime session. The company didn't say why it removed the feature, which has been present in the previous iOS 12 betas, though it will return in a later update released this fall.
