Inventec Dr. Eye Gives the Android Based N18 a Ridiculous Name [Video]

Inventec's N18, or N18C, has been shown off more than a few times over the last year, but it's always kept to the standard title: some numbers, and a letter thrown in for good measure. Model numbers are a great way to name a product, but it's definitely better to give it some clever title. We might draw the line at Dr. Eye, though. It's a lot more unnerving than it probably needs to be.

The Mobile Internet Device (MID) is Android-powered, and it features a small keyboard that, as far as we can tell, will probably be barely usable. As you can see in the video, it's of the clamshell variety, and you can easily close it up for when you're traveling. It features a 4.8-inch VGA touchscreen, the ability to access 3G, a front-facing camera, and WiFi. Underneath the hood, you'll find a "Marvel 624."

Unfortunately, the Dr. Eye is currently running Android 1.6, but there's word that it will get updated to Android 2.1 "in the near future." The future's a pretty long time, though. Even when it's "near." The guy showing off the device says that you'll be able to get your hands on the Dr. Eye "pretty soon," and it should be priced somewhere around $400. Whether or not you think that's worth it, well, that's completely up to you.
