Intel Nehalem next-gen CPU to be called Core i7?

According to Expreview, Intel has finally decided on official names for its upcoming processor refresh, currently codenamed Nehalem.  The 45nm chips – which can potentially have up to eight cores and up to sixteen simultaneous threads – will be known as Core i7, with Intel expected to announce the new names, together with the logos you see here, this coming Monday.

Core i7 will introduce a new architecture to the existing die platform that the Core 2 Duo processors are currently built on.  There will also be an integrated graphics processor and memory controller.

In recent testing with pre-production Nehalem chips, they managed a 20 to 50-percent performance improvement over existing Penryn processor.  That's despite only minimal observed power requirement increases.
