Intel announces dividend increase for Q1 2010

Last week Intel and AMD settled their long running legal battle with Intel dishing out $1.25 billion to AMD and putting a patents cross-license agreement in place. I thought at the time with the worth of Intel and how much business the company does the fine was a mere drop in the bucket.

Intel has announced that in Q1 2010 its board has agreed to increase the dividend each quarter to 15.75 cents per share totaling 63 cents per quarter. Obviously, Intel has no fear of the payout to AMD affecting its bottom line ad with over 80% of the CPU market I guess it really has no reason to worry.

Intel started paying cash dividends in 1992 and has paid out $16.6 billion to stockholders so far. The dividends for 2009 through Q3 total $2.3 billion.
