Instagram outage has many users locked out of their accounts

Instagram has just confirmed that an issue impacting its service has prevented many users from signing into or otherwise accessing their accounts. Reports are coming in from all corners of the globe showing difficulties logging in, but some users report not being able to perform other actions, such as browsing images and uploading. The company says it is investigation the issue.

Instagram confirmed the reports on its Twitter account via a tweet, saying, "We know it's frustrating, and we're working quickly to fix the issue!"

There's no word on what may be wrong, nor how many users are impacted. Many Instagram users aren't experiencing any problems signing into their account or using the service, but a spike over the last hour shows thousands of reports on Down Detector.

Assuming you're not having any issues using your account — and that you're already signed in — you should avoid logging out of your account, as you may not be able to log back in.

This comes amid Sony's continued issues with its own network. The company has been experiencing issues with its social and gaming services since early yesterday, preventing many PS4 owners from joining parties and playing together.
