Instagram now lets you share stories you've been mentioned in

Instagram has launched an interesting new feature for Stories that builds the feed resharing capabilities it launched last month. With the latest update to Instagram on iOS and Android, you can now share stories created by others that mention you. You can even share that mention as part of your own story, so you can dive pretty deep down the sharing rabbit hole if you so choose.

In a new post over to the Instagram blog, the company outlines how to share a mention in your own story. As always, you'll still receive a notification in your direct messages with the person who mentioned you, but now you'll see the option to share that mention to your own story as well.

The mention will appear in your story as a sticker, with all of the controls that we'd normally expect from them. You'll be able to rotate, scale, and overlay text and other stickers on to it to transform the content for your own uses. When you share that mention in your story, the original creator's name will appear, allowing your friends who view it to tap through to their profile.

Instagram notes that you can only share stories that were created by public accounts, so if any of your friends mention you in a story and they have their profile set to private, you won't be able to reshare it. These new resharing capabilities are available today as part as Instagram version 48 on iOS and Android, so give it a spin for yourself (assuming, of course, you have friends that regularly tag you in their stories).
