Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge concept is F1 inspired

Infiniti is involved with one of the most successful racing teams on the Formula 1 landscape. If you aren't familiar with F1 racing, it has some of the best drivers and fastest cars in the automotive world. Infiniti has announced that it will be unveiling a new concept car at the Detroit International Auto Show next month that is inspired by F1 racing.

The concept car is a modified version of the Q50 premium sports sedan that Infiniti unveiled earlier this year. The concept will be called the Q50 Eau Rouge. The concept gets its name from a famous corner at the F1 racing tack in Spa-Francorchamps. Infiniti says that corner requires extraordinary strength, courage, and commitment.

The Q50 Eau Rouge concept promises to blend road technology with a "thoroughbred motorsport vision" according to Infiniti. The car will have aerodynamic styling treatments and design elements that are influenced by Infiniti's partnership with Infiniti Red Bull Racing.

The teaser image you see here does remind me a bit of a F1 front wing in the design of the black splitter at the bottom of the car. There is no word on other details of the concept car or if the powertrain is different than what is found under the hood of the standard Q50.

"Performance is a key pillar of Infiniti's DNA and this car expresses a deepened design interpretation of that. The Q50, with an abundance of technologies, provides a great basis for an extreme performance version, embodied in the design of Q50 Eau Rouge," said Alfonso Albaisa, Infiniti's Executive Design Director.
