In Monster Hunter XX, Nintendo Switch gets the Capcom title it deserves

Capcom has already thrown some support behind the Nintendo Switch in releasing Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (out today, as luck would have it), but it just ramped up support for the console in a big way. Capcom revealed today that a new Monster Hunter game – Monster Hunter XX – will make its way to Nintendo's newest console. Details are still slim at this point, but we should find out more rather quickly.

That's because a splash page for Monster Hunter XX says that Capcom will share more information about the title at this weekend's Monster Hunter Championships in Japan. For now, here's what we know: Monster Hunter XX is an enhanced edition of Monster Hunter X (known as Monster Hunter Generations in the US) for the 3DS. This new title should largely be the same game, only re-released with a HD coat of paint for the Switch.

READ MORE: Three months with the Nintendo SwitchMonster Hunter XX is still a relatively new game, launching in Japan back in March. There's been no word on whether or not Capcom plans to localize the 3DS version for other regions, which makes determining whether or not this Switch version will launch in the US a little tricky. We're guessing that Nintendo will push for localization to help keep Switch sales in the US and EU going strong.

After all, Monster Hunter has captured itself a sizable number of fans in regions outside of Japan. Capcom has been supporting Nintendo fans abroad with Monster Hunter titles for quite some time, too, releasing Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii U and 3DS, along with Monster Hunter 4 and Monster Hunter Generations on the 3DS. With all of that in mind, it seems safe to assume that this Switch version of Monster Hunter XX will eventually launch in the US and Europe.

Even if it doesn't, though, the good news is that the Switch is region free, so Monster Hunter die-hards can always import a physical copy or snag the digital version from the Japanese eShop. Still, localization is the thing to hope for here, so let's keep our fingers crossed for more news on that soon. Would you pick up Monster Hunter XX if it released outside of Japan?
