IMID kicks off at Korea, Samsung shows off 7.9mm 40-inch Flat screen TV

International Meeting on Information Display (IMID) kicks off today at Korea with Samsung showing two sub 10mm flat screen TVs. The Korean electronic giant is exhibiting an ultra slim 9.8mm thick 52-inch TV and a 7.9mm thick 40-inch LCD at the Goyang City. The company also improves a new version of Blue Phase 15-inch LCD panel- a low cost LCD without the need of mechanical alignment process at the show.

Things are slightly slow at the OLED's front. Samsung isn't pushing anything further than that the full HD 14-inch and 31-inch OLED displays featured in CES 2008. While another Korean display giant, LG, put out a 19-inch OLED display driven by amorphous Si TFT.
