iiView Vpad grabs for iPad money

I am still not convinced that the iPad will be a greatly successful product for Apple. I am sure there were lots of people who thought the same thing about the iPhone a few years ago and were proven wrong. There are lots of companies that are expecting popularity in the tablet world and the latest entrant to fight the iPad is the iiView Vpad.

The Vpad, much like the iPad, comes in several different models. Each model has the same design and shares much of the same hardware. The tablet has a 10.2-inch 1024 x 600 touch screen and an Intel Atom N270 CPU. The tablets weigh 2.15 pounds with the stock battery and measure 10.5" x 6.57". Battery life is promised to be up to three hours with standard battery and up to eight with the optional battery.

Model 1 will sell for $499 and gets 160GB HDD, 1GB of RAM, and WiFi. Model 2 gets a 320GB HDD, WiFi, and 2GB of RAM for $599. Model 3 gets 160GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, WiFi, and 3G for $599. Model 4 gets 320GB HDD, 2GB of RAM, and 3G for $699. Those prices seem high to me, if I were shopping for a tablet I would just go for the iPad at roughly the same money. The Vpad is basically a netbook and offers netbook connectivity like VGA out, USB ports, and more, which might make it more appealing to some and it runs Windows.
