Hulu Live TV lands on Android TV next month

Hulu's Live TV service has been available for a little over two years now, and in that time, it's managed to spread to a variety of different platform. These days, you can watch Hulu Live TV on such devices as the Nintendo Switch, Chromecast, and even Amazon's Echo Show, but despite that long list, there's been one platform that's been left out in the cold thus far: Android TV.

Happily for Android TV users, that's all changing soon. Hulu revealed today that it will be bringing Hulu Live TV and the service's recently-updated UI to Android TV at the beginning of August. A more precise launch date wasn't shared, but since August begins in less than two days, its release can't be that far off.

Not all Android TV devices will be able to support Hulu Live TV at the outset. Hulu has shared a list of supported devices and at the moment it's fairly short. Hulu Live TV will be available on all Sony Bravia Android TV models released in 2015 or later, the NVIDIA Shield, Xiaomi's Mi Box, and Hisense Android TV. There's no word on whether or not Hulu plans to expand support to more devices after launch, but the hope is that it will.

Of course, if you don't have one of those Android TV devices listed above, you still have plenty of options elsewhere. In addition to the platforms listed at the beginning of this article, Hulu Live TV is also available on Amazon's lineup of Fire TV devices, Xbox One, Roku devices, some Samsung and LG TVs, and 4th-gen Apple TVs and later, though we can't imagine there are many Android TV users who also happen to have an Apple TV lying around.

In any case, you'll need to be running the latest version of the Hulu app in order to access Live TV on your Android TV device, which you can snag by heading over to the Google Play Store. We'll keep an eye out for a more specific release date from Hulu, so stay tuned for that.
