Hulu for Android gets Daydream VR support
Hulu has been available in virtual reality for a while, depending of course on which headset you have. With the company's latest Android app update, Daydream View owners can now watch Hulu content using their VR headset, getting the same experience that you get with, for example, the Samsung Gear VR. Hulu offers a bunch of content that works well in VR, such as ones recorded from the point of view of the subject, making you feel like you're the one who is paddling a kayak or skiing down a slope.
Hulu updated its Android app yesterday; the only change is the addition of Daydream support for those with both the headset and one of Google's Pixel smartphones. According to Hulu's current support pages, it also supports the Gear VR (as mentioned) and the Oculus Rift.
For Daydream owners, you'll need to download the Hulu app onto your Pixel phone, then fire up the headset with the app running. You'll find yourself in what appears to be a high-rise apartment in a big city, but there are some other environments from which you can choose, such as a modern home in the middle of what looks like a rainforest.
You'll have access to all Hulu content, not just VR content. For most of the videos, you'll simply be watching them with the privacy of the headset, but without any of the immersive features that come with proper VR content. There is a "VR" video category, though, in which you'll find content made specifically for virtual reality. In this case, you'll be able to look around within the videos and more.
