Huawei Y6 Pro debuts with impressive 4,000mAh battery

Coming out of nowhere today, smartphone manufacturer Huawei has just launched a new mid-range, 5-inch device under the moniker of Y6 Pro. As the international release of the Enjoy 5, which debuted in China recently, the Y6 Pro is the latest in a number of new global smartphone launches for Huawei over the past few months, including the GX8 in the US, the Honor 5X in the UK, and the Mate 8. While not a flagship device, the Y6 Pro boasts of several impressive specs, along with a generously large battery.

Launching in three colors — gold, silver, and gray — the Y6 Pro features a 5-inch HD liquid crystal display, a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, and is powered by a MediaTek MT6735P SoC with a 64-bit quad-core 1.3GHz processor. Paired with that is 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. Unfortunately it's not clear yet if the smartphone will support expandable storage.

As for cameras, Huawei has included a 13-megapixel shooter on the rear of the Y6 Pro, while the front side sports 5MP. Powering the phone is a 4,000mAh battery, which help keep even the most power-hungry apps running for a full day. Buyers will find the device running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, customized with Huawei's Emotion UI 3.1 Lite.

Other features include support for dual SIM cards, and connectivity options including Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, and the standard 4G LTE/3G/2G. Weighing just 160 grams, the Y6 Pro has measurements of 143.1 x 71.8 x 9.7mm. The last real detail we're missing at this point is pricing, but we'll have to wait for Huawei to confirm that tidbit.
