Huawei Watch GT hits USA for $200 with top-battery release

Inside the United States, Huawei's finally brought their Huawei Watch GT to market with a two-hundred-dollar price tag. This device is not like previous Huawei wearable devices – it's not running a Google-made software. It does not have Wear OS or Android Wear or anything like that. Instead, it runs LiteOS, a software made by Huawei specifically for wearable devices such as this.

With the release of the Huawei Watch GT, Huawei's opened what they call a "new category of smart wearables from Huawei based on Lite OS. They're pushing two-week battery life and functionality that's fairly basic for a smartwatch. When it comes to a smartwatch such as this, for those that've not owned several smartwatches before, the basic functionality this device offers might be just the ticket.

This new smartwatch measures in at 46.5 mm x 46.5 mm x 10.6 mm and weighs around 46 g without its strap. Users can find this device in Black Stainless Steel and Stainless Steel, and it's made up of mainly metal, plastic, and ceramic. The display is an AMOLED touchscreen at 1.39-inches and a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels (PPI 326).

This device has an array of sensors, including an Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Magnetometer, and an Optical heart rate sensor. There's also an Ambient light sensor onboard with a Barometer for good measure. This device supports GPS, GLONASS, and GALILEO for global navigation. Connectivity is provided by Bluetooth 4.2 (BLE) and this device can connect to Android 4.4 and later as well as iOS 9.0 and later.

The Huawei Watch GT is now available for pre-order inside the United States through both Amazon and Newegg. This device can be purchased in Graphite black with a silicone strap for approximately $200 USD. It can also be purchased with a "sophisticated leather/silicone strap in Saddle Brown" for $230 USD. Both versions are available on the web now, and will be appearing at "additional retailers" in what Huawei describes as "late February."
