Huawei Ascend P6 Google Edition reportedly on the way

Google has just recently begun rolling out Google Editions of a couple of new handsets, like the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S 4. However, could there be more devices on the way? We've been hearing a few ramblings about a possible Nexus-ified Huawei device recently, but nothing has been confirmed just yet. Most recently, it's said that Huawei and Google are partnering up to make an Ascend P6 Google Edition.

According to Pocket-lint, Huawei's president of the handset product division Kevin Ho told them that the company is currently working with Google to make an Ascend P6 Google Edition that will run a stock Android version instead of Huawei's traditional Emotion user interface. This will be the third handset to get the stock Google treatment besides the Nexus devices.

However, Huawei CEO Richard Wu said during the Ascend P6 launch earlier this month that a Nexus experience won't be coming to a Huawei device, as the company has made significant improvements to their Emotion UI that they think would make a better Android experience for their users.

Of course, we've heard similar comments from Samsung and HTC in the past, but they eventually caved in and offered a Google Edition of their flagship phones, so while Wu says that we won't see a Google-ified Huawei, it's possible that the company will eventually come around to the idea (if they haven't already).

Either way, we'd take this one with a grain of salt, as it seems there might be some miscommunication going on at Huawei headquarters. Although, it seems rather unlikely for Google to partner with Huawei, seeing as how Huawei doesn't sell their phones in the US, which is a huge market that Google won't be able to penetrate if they partner with Huawei. In any case, we'll keep our fingers crossed and let you know of any new developments.
