HTC Raider 4G hits South Korea, AT&T tipped next

HTC has outed the Raider 4G, the company's latest 4G LTE smartphone, running Android Gingerbread on a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Fronted by a 4.5-inch qHD resolution display, the HTC Raider 4G is capable of up to 100Mbps downloads and 50Mbps uploads on the South Korean LTE networks it will debut on; however, according to previous rumors, the smartphone is also on the way to AT&T's fledgling LTE network.

The Raider 4G has an 8-megapixel camera on the rear, with a back-illuminated sensor, f/2.2 and 1080p Full HD video recording support together with a dual-LED flash. There's also a front-facing 1.3-megapixel sensor for video calls. Inside there's 3G capable of 21Mbps downloads/5.76Mbps uploads, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS, along with HTC Sense.

RAM is 1GB and there's 16GB of storage, 13GB of which is user-available. In South Korea, HTC will offer an optional DMB dongle for tuning into digital TV while on the move; no word on how much that will be, nor how long battery life will last when it's active. HTC doesn't quote 4G runtimes from the 1620 mAh battery, either, though based on the DROID BIONIC our guess is that it will come down to a choice between longevity and speed.

Rather than the curves of the Sensation, the Raider 4G has a sharp-edged design that measures 128.8mm x 67mm x 11.27mm and weighs 163.8g. No word on when it might arrive on AT&T's network, though we're guessing the carrier is keen to get some flagship phones using its LTE.
