HTC named official partner of UEFA

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has signed a three-year deal with HTC as the official partner for smartphones and tablets for the league. The deal will last until the end of the 2014-2015 season and applies to both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The deal will officially begin in January.

From the deal, HTC will no doubt get a lot of advertising, and their logo will be plastered on anything that's UEFA-related. Overall, the company's presence will be felt a lot more in league matches now that they're classified as an official partner. Specific details about the partnership haven't been released yet.

However, what's interesting about the new deal is the fact that it specifically mentions tablets, which if you didn't know, HTC backed out of the tablet game recently, saying that they had no interest in developing and manufacturing new tablets. Again, no specific details have been disclosed, but it's possible we may see HTC jump back into the tablet business.

Then again, it's extremely likely that HTC will simply provde UEFA with leftovers of their old tablet models, such as the 7-inch Flyer and the 10-inch Jetstream. As far as smartphones, that should be business as usual for HTC, as they'll definitely be coming out with new handsets constantly for the UEFA to take advantage of.
