HTC may unveil LTE quad-core Edge at MWC

HTC is preparing to unveil a new high-end smartphone sporting NVIDIA's Tegra 3 quad-core processor along with support for 4G LTE, according to a report by DigiTimes citing Chinese publication Commercial Times. The new device, believed to be the HTC Edge, won't make it to CES 2012, but should debut at Mobile World Congress in February with shipments by April.

"HTC will maintain its lead against rivals by two months if it unveils Tegra 3- and MSM 8960-based smartphones in February and ships the models on time in April," said Alvin Kwok, an analyst at JPMorgan Chase, which has recently upgraded HTC's stock to "overweight" in anticipation of the new device.

The HTC Edge was leaked in November of last year and is expected to feature a 4.7-inch display with 720p resolution on an 8.8mm thin chassis. It's 8-megapixel camera will offer 28mm f/2.2 optics and support 1080p Full HD video recording. It's also expected to have a 1.5GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 4.0, HTC Sense 4.0, and Beats Audio.
