HTC may offer Sensation Special Edition with Beats

HTC may soon be offering the Beats by Dr. Dre audio technology in one of its current smartphones. Rumors pointed to the upcoming HTC Vigor as the first handset to feature Beats technology, but that may not be the case according to a document obtained by CNET. Instead, it looks like HTC will offer a Sensation Special Edition to sport the new fine-tuned audio experience.

According to the document, the HTC Sensation Special Edition will not only feature Beats audio technology internally but will also come with a set of Beats headphones with a remote control. It will also sport a faster 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, up from the dual-core 1.2GHz processor in the current model. Plus, it will get four times more internal storage with 4GB and a step up in battery from 1,520mAh to 1,730mAh.

However, the HTC Sensation Special Edition is priced at a whopping £520 or $847 and it's not clear whether this edition will only be available in the UK or if it would also make its way to the states. HTC does have many events scheduled at IFA 2011, which we're covering live, so hopefully more details will be revealed soon.

HTC announced the exclusive partnership with Beats Audio in the mobile sector earlier this month that involved a $300 million investment from HTC.
