HTC action camera tipped to wirelessly love your iPhone 6

All eyes may be on HTC's oft-rumored smartwatch or Nexus 9 tablet plans, but new rumors suggest a high-tech action camera could in fact be next on the list. The GoPro rivaling device is expected to be waterproof, insiders claim, and connect wirelessly to a nearby smartphone.

Just as we've seen with other action cameras, the so-far unnamed HTC camera will have an ultra wide-angle lens, Bloomberg reports.

That will be paired with a 16-megapixel sensor, it's suggested, and have both WiFi and Bluetooth connections to pair with the user's phone. HTC is believed to be aiming for compatibility not only with Android devices, such as its own HTC One M8, but Apple's iPhone and other iOS devices as well.

Form-factor is believed to be tubular, which would perhaps suggest a design similar to the old Contour cameras like the ContourROAM, shown above.

HTC is preparing for an event on October 8th in New York City, with the tagline "Double Exposure", and it's believed that the action camera along with a new smartphone with an emphasis on selfies are on the agenda for that day.

Meanwhile, the company's wearable plans have apparently been pushed back into the new year. Rumors earlier this week suggested HTC's smartwatch, expected to run Android Wear, now won't be revealed until early 2015, despite previous plans to have it on the market before the end of 2014.
