Hot Coffee lawsuit settled - Payouts coming for San Andreas owners

The video game industry sees its fair share of legal disputes, most of which seem to be spearheaded by the infamous Jack Thompson. I can think of few that blew up quite as big as the whole "Hot Coffee" fiasco from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I'll spare you the details, because if you haven't already heard about it, you've likely been living in a cave f or the last few years and have better things to do than read about having video game sex. Apparently the class-action lawsuit has finally come to a close, and you might just get some money out of it.

Personally, I was very hurt and offended by this blatant sexual imagery that appeared on my screen after I installed the mod that unlocked the sex scene (that I was fully expecting to see). I don't know if anything will ever quite set me right in the head again, though that sweet cash they're offering just might do the trick. Here's a breakdown of who gets what:

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas First Edition Disc: Replacement Disc
Detailed Store Receipt: Cash payment up to $35.00General Credit Card Statement or Check: Cash payment up to $17.50Disc/Purchase Details: Cash payment up to $10.00No Disc/Purchase Details: Cash payment up to $5.00

It's pretty straightforward, you can trade in your old disc for a new one, and get some cash. The amount you receive is directly related to how much proof you have of your purchase. Don't have any proof whatsoever? That's ok, they'll still throw you five bucks, hopefully that will be enough to make up for all of the mental anguish. By the way, did I mention that GTA IV comes out on April 29? Head over here to sign up for your slice of the pie.
